Classes for 2010

Are you looking for something fun to do?  Would you like a few hours away from stress in a comfortable atmosphere?  Come take a workshop or class at Lake Erie Artists Gallery!

Beginning Precious Metal Clay

Two sessions 3 hours each $35 per person

Learn the basics of PMC and create a pendent for yourself or a gift. If you want to come in for extra studio time, you need to sign up for that time separately.  Materials fee $50 due at the start of the class.  Additional packs of PMC available at $45 each. Maximum 12 students.  Students may repeat the class and make different projects, but must pay the class fee each time. This class needs a minimum of 2 students to run. Teacher:  Paula Atwell

One-on-One Precious Metal Clay Instruction

By appointment only $20 per hour 2 hour minimum includes use of kiln

Individual instruction by appointment.  Materials fee determined per student due at the start of the class.  Additional packs of PMC available at $45 each.  Teacher:  Paula Atwell

Precious Metal Clay Studio Time

By appointment only $6 per hour

Individual use of the studio by appointment.  Bring your own materials and tools.  Additional fees for materials as used.  Additional packs of PMC available at $45 each.

Beginning Beading

Dates TBA 6 pm to 8:30 pm One session 2 1/2 hours  $30 per person. $20 materials fee. Students will learn  how to make a simple basic bracelet with copper and freshwater pearls, using tools, wire, crimps and adding a clasp.  Students can bring their own beads, however, copper, pearls, beading wire, crimps and clasps will be provided by instructor. Introduction to Glass Fusing

Dates TBA 6 pm to 8:30 One session 2 1/2  hours each $35 per person.  Materials Fee $20

Learn the technique of fused glass jewelry making.  Make 3 pieces out of fused glass, your choice of pendant, pins, or earrings.  Maximum 12 students. Teacher:  Jennifer Szalkowski

Get Familiar With Your Digital Camera

All classes are taught on Sundays from 2:30 pm to 5 pm.

One session 2 1/2 hours  $20 per person. No materials fee. Do you own a digital camera but are not sure what all the features are?  Come and learn.  Bring your camera with you.  Maximum 20 students. Teacher:  Jay Remar

Make Your Own Ear Wires

Dates and times TBAOne session 2  hours each $30 per person

Never run out of ear wires again!  This 2 hour lesson covers how to make 5 ear wire styles including French Hoops, Latching Wires, Long Drops, Wrapped Shepherd’s Hook. 

Materials:
28" 20 gauge wire for Ear Wires;
8" 18 gauge wire for Clasps;
1 pair chain nose pliers;
1 pair wire cutters;
1 pair round nose pliers;
Ruler;
Emery board.
Copper and silver wire will be available for purchase at the class.  Students can also bring their own craft wire. Price will be based on the current London fixed price (estimate between $6.00 to $9.00 total for Copper wire).  Chain nose pliers, wire cutters and Round nose pliers will be available during the class for the student to borrow (limited number of tools will be available for purchase).  Maximum 12 students.  Teacher: Katie Mullins

Make Your Own Love Knot Rings

Dates and times TBA One session 2  hours each $30 per person

Learn basic Love Knot Ring and two variations of this medieval style. 

Materials list:
36" 18 gauge Copper wire;
1 Pair Chain nose pliers;
1 rubber, nylon or rawhide hammer;
1 pair wire cutters;
1 emery board.
Copper wire will be available for purchase at the class for $3.60 for 3' ($.10 per inch).  Students may bring their own silver or craft wire. Chain nose pliers, wire cutters and Round nose pliers will be available during the class for the student to borrow (limited number of tools will be available for purchase).  Maximum 12 students.  Teacher: Katie Mullins

Basic Byzantine Bracelet

Dates and times TBA 

One session 2  hours each $30 per person. Make and take with you a stunning Byzantine weave bracelet.  This 2 hour lesson covers how to weave the Byzantine pattern.  Kits will be available for purchase at the class in Copper, $20.00, or Anodized Aluminum, $20.00, Silver $50.00 or you may bring your own supplies.  Kits come in a muslin drawstring bag and include jump rings, wire, 2 pair chain nose pliers, bead mat and emery board.  Additional jump rings will also be available for purchase.  Maximum 12 students.  Teacher:  Katie Mullins

PMC Certification Class Offered by Lake Erie Artists Gallery
Lake Erie Artists Gallery will host a Rio Rewards PMC Certification class, sponsored by Rio Grande, from 9 am to 5 pm March 26, 26, and 28. Taught by Terry Kovalcik, well known PMC artist, the class will be held at our facility at Shaker Square, 13129 Shaker Boulevard, Cleveland, OH 44120.

The Rio Grande Rio Rewards PMC Certification class is designed for serious and dedicated PMC enthusiasts who already have experience using this amazing material.

Each student who completes the class is enrolled in the Rio Grande Rio Rewards program, allowing them to received discounts on PMC and other items from Rio Grande.  In addition, the student receives a one year membership to the PMC Guild--a $30 value.  The class is limited to no more than 12 students.  All needed materials are supplied and the cost for the class is just $425.
