Jewelry Making Classes for 2012

Learn jewelry making techniques in one session workshops taught by expert jewelry artist Katie Mullins.  With each class you will have a piece of jewelry to take home to wear or give to someone as a gift by the end of class.

Beaded Rings (new class) BYOB

At some sparkle to your fingers with these gorgeous rings! Easy to make out of Copper (coated so it doesn't turn) Craft Wire and Artistic Wire (silver plated and coated) and easily personalized to your style by your choice of bead.  You'll learn how to make the basic ring, plus several variations.

Class fee $35.00 per person (materials and use of tools included).

Stackable Riveted Ring (new) (BYOB Class)

Thursday July 12  6 pm to 8 pm

Learn how to texture metal strips and rivet them together and design your own set of riveted stack rings. Students will learn how to hammer, rivet, anneal and form copper strips into rings in this fun class. Tools include goldsmith's hammers, butane torch, files and mallets. You will get your hands dirty. Not for under 18 year olds. Don't forget to bring those reading glasses, there is some close up work.

Alternately called the original "hammer therapy" class, there's a whole lota hammering going on to make this matched set of pendant, earrings and ring out of 99.9% pure Copper (92.5% Sterling Silver available for $80 extra).   Students will learn how to form and texture wire during this 1-1/2 to 2 hour class; use of tools, leather cord with clasp and earwires are included.  Don't forget to bring those reading glasses!

Copper and Silver Celtic Visions Star Pendant  (Wine and Art Party Class)

Made entirely of jump rings, this lacey star will look fabulous with either your favorite dress or jeans.  Learn how to weave non-tarnish Silver Artistic Wire and Copper jump rings into this beautiful Celtic Star Pendant in this 1-1/2 to 2 hour class. Leather cord with clasp is included.

Galaxy Rings in Artistic Wire (Copper, Brass, Silver Plated) BYOB

Make these fabulous rings and wear the universe on your finger! Made from tarnish resistant Artistic Wire, these great rings take no time at all to work up and look great. Students can choose from Brass, Copper or Silver-Plated wire to make two rings during this hour long class. Use of tools, instruction and materials included.

The Love Knot ring is said to date from the medieval era, when a young man tied silk ribbon around his true love’s finger. You’ll learn how to make this ring, and several variations, out of non-tarnish Sterling Plated Artistic Wire and Copper Wire during this 2 hour class.

Hammered Copper and Brass Cuff Bracelet (new) (BYOB Class)

Make a beautiful copper and brass cuff bracelet for yourself or a gift using hammering and stamping techniques.  Great for getting out your aggressions and frustrations, and a whole lot of fun.

Criss Cross Pendant (BYOB Class)

Learn how to fold and shape metal to create a unique pendant! In this class, students will learn the technique of fold forming.  Using an 1-1/4" square piece of copper sheet, students will learn how to anneal, flame patina, hammer and shape the metal into a three dimensional pendant.

Please note: students will learn to use a 2500 degree butane torch, goldsmith's hammer and punch. This is not a suitable class for those under 18. You will get your hands dirty. Don't forget your reading glasses!
